today’s sewing creation only took 2 hours and not much patience at all. but i had sewing realization no. 2. my iron is one of my most valuable assets.
this was just a test for some shorts i want to make with this material:
i will make them bermuda length though.
tonight’s dinner was another new dish/desert
broiled frittata with jalapeno, chips, and sun dried tomato as well as a raspberry italian soda
honey broiled peaches with ricotta and coffee
i read the first 7 chapters of The Amulet of Samarkand but wasn’t amused at all so i gave it back to the library.
lastly, it never fails that when my life is in a slump all i need to is go to my local walmart for entertainment. i wasn’t even looking for it, but returned home with a bag full of fabric and a mental list of stories to tell istopher.
1. i was looking around the fabric section and saw 2 amish women. then i heard a cell phone ring. “Please!” I prayed, “let one of them have a cell phone!” sure enough, the younger one (which wasn’t really young, but definitely youngER) pulled a cell phone out of her bag. i sneaked around to try to get a picture, but all i have is this for your amusement:
2. you’ll just have to trust me as i thought it would be kind of awkward to take a visual from this next person. my cashier was a really really big man. by big i mean obese. nothing funny about that. what i found amusing was that this guy’s neck, which is significantly more neck than most people, was COVERED with hickeys. i mean, woah.
3. on the ride home, i looked in my rear view mirror and saw a guy jamming out. again, not uncommon. what drew my attention was that fact that this man was a little person. as in a midget. and he was realllllly gettin’ down. furthermore, his car was teeming with gay pride triangles, rainbows, and so forth. i really wish i could have met him. i bet he’s a riot. but, all i have is a small memento from when he passed me on the right and got stopped at a traffic light…how i will lament my dear elf…
so today was a very full day again. i only have 10 days till fall semester starts so i am trying to enjoy as much of my time as possible and that means completing projects and finishing books.this afternoon i went out for a goodbye lunch with my coworkers. i have a new GA position in the counseling center this next year so i went out with my institutional research posse for one last rumble.
the venue is themed on one of my favorite books
LAWL this was our random table decoration:
quite appropriate in a way!
M-a-ZiNg creme brulee and latte:
and, as it turns out, i have a twin! our eyes met and we both stared intently. it was as if we both instantly knew that we were, at one time, part of the same split embryo. while i collected myself and said hi to her, she just smiled, giggled, and ran back to her mom. that’s exactly what i would have done if my mom were there!…but then again, that’s what most 3 year olds do when they meet me.
we both had braids, white tees, baby dresses with pockets, and flipy flops…either she’s a real sophisticated 3 year old or maybe i need to update my 26 year old wardrobe. hmm….
speaking of wardrobes, i added a new dress! it is possible the best one i have ever made. built by wendy patterns are so simple to follow that it instantly boosts my confidence.
the gathering collar from hades! but it worked out great
final product. absolutely awesome blossom (extra awesome)
i will say this: during this project i came to a harsh realization about many aspects of sewing. one of these is that in order to add a zipper…you ABSOLUTELY MUST hand baste. no way around it. at all. ever. surrender the fantasy!
i made this the other day but hadn’t posted it yet
Books:
today i finished “Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code” and “Greenwitch”
they were both alright but i don’t think i’ll read the other books in both series’. i just don’t think i can rock them anymore.
lastly, i highly recommend Paris, je t’aime to anyone that likes to think. it’s a tres bon film.
last year for our anniversary we went to a really really expensive indian restaurant
but this year we decided to do something cooler.
we chose a tile and a mug to glaze.
why i love istopher: how absolutely random is this?
these will be the colors after they are fired in the kiln.
bowties with a special mixture of yummy goodness:
and we received an early anniversary present from my mother in law:
absolutely lovely quilt for our love nest. i normally don’t go for neutral colors so i was surprised at how much i liked this.
i finished reading By These Ten Bones by Clare B. Dunkle tonight. eh. i liked The Hollow Kingdom Trilogy much better.
i went to see lindsay today
and we made some beads out of old magazines
then i made her a bracelet after they dried
just finished
the top on the right tonight while talking to sarah barah (the uber super sister in law)
My cousin LJ is da kewlest. why? cause i said so. want proof?: ![]()
i played my favorite sport today: mall walking. i was able to find a lot of funny things, but here are the only ones i got to record:
i’m not a big fan on novelties, but this is fantastic-
new smells from yankee candle that i adore in order of likability by my olfactory sense:

and finally…EISLEY’S NEW CD “COMBINATIONS” WAS RELEASED TODAY! BOOOYA!
ahem. istopher and i got to see them in nashville on August 10th and it was scrumptious. here’s us waiting: ![]()
oh, and one more thing…mov02954.MPG
yankee candle company has just released their new halloween scents. i can’t wait to try cider-web
also, i can’t believe it, but i found a hecka good condition copy of the cookie jar my mom got rid of before i had a chance to ask for it. i don’t think i’ll get it because 1, i hate bid wars. and b, i hate shipping fees.
